Other than Messiah ben David, who is Jesus and the two witnesses Elijah and Enoch, the next most prominent individual in the time known as the Great Tribulation is seldom spoken of by prophetic teachers of our day. No, it is not the Antichrist (the Beast) nor the false prophet. It is someone who the ancients knew of and the Rabbis wrote a great deal about, but he has been hidden from Christians. The biblical prophecies referring to him have been ignored perhaps even intentionally.

A person in the Great Tribulation Period whom we Christians know little about!
Many
people talk about Messiah ben Joseph (or Ephraim using his Hebrew
title).  But I like to use his Biblical title, one we can put our finger
on the page and say “there he is” in scripture.  In Isaiah 11:1,
Zechariah 3:8 and other places, he is called the "BRANCH" sometimes all
letters are capitals sometimes just the "B" is.  It’s still the same
person, who, by the way, is not Messiah ben David (Jesus).  It is someone in prophecy who is much lessor than the Son of God.
In
John 1:19-25, John the Baptist gives him his other biblical title as
"that prophet", set apart from "the Messiah' (Jesus) or "Esaias"
(Elijah).  And in the same verse that John gives him his
New Testament or (Christian Bible) name, he confirms a second time that
he is a separate person in the last days.
This
mentioning of this person the second time is important when you’re
dealing with Biblical things and when studying Biblical prophecy of the
"Tribulation Period”, which are the last seven years before the 1000
year reign and ruling of Jesus (Messiah ben David).  Note, I did not say
the prophetical "Last Days", because the last days have been going on
since the Spanish Armada was destroyed at the Battle of Gravelines in
1558.  Of the 130 Spanish ships that sailed from Spain, only 60 were
finally accounted for.  After England (and God) defeated the Spanish
Armada, the Lion of England came forth out of the Sea to establish
its dominance on the World Stage and the promotion of the Protestant
ascendance in England.  Because of the force of their navies, they sent Protestant missionaries all over the world.
In
the Bible we knew this was going to happen because of Daniel's vision
(chapter 7) were he sees the winged Lion come up out of the depths of
the sea.  This was a dream depicting the nation’s ascendancy within the
frame work of the Biblical "Last Days".  It
foretold the ascendancy of England and the ascendancy of the
Protestant stabilization, i.e., the "standing on its feet like a man and
a man's heart given to it." (vrs. 4).   You see, we have been in the
"Last Days" since 1558 AD.  What we are about to go into is the seven
year period known in eschatology (study of last things) as the "Great
Tribulation Period", which happens 1000 years
before the end of the World (well, at least this "fallen" state of a
world we live in).
